Charitable Donation Policy

Our Commitment to Community

At Alluvium Cellars, we strongly believe in building and supporting the community around us. We do this in a number of ways, including donations.

At the same time, we are a bootstrapped, fledgling winery with limited production and are struggling to become profitable, so we need to be thoughtful about when and how much we donate. Most people don't realize that wineries receive requests to donate wine to a dizzying array of charitable causes on a near weekly basis.

To balance our commitment to community with our business needs, we've developed the following policy:

  • Alluvium Club Members: We are committed to supporting our members' charitable causes. If you're an Alluvium Club Member and you're personally involved with a 503(c)(3) organization seeking donations, we will prioritize your request and, in most cases, happily provide support.
  • Joining Our Community: Not yet a member? If you'd like us to support your 503(c)(3) cause, we encourage you to join our Alluvium Club. This creates a way for you to support us while we support you. Once you're a member, we'll be delighted to consider your charitable request and, in most instances, provide a donation package.

When we donate, we typically provide a swag bag with Alluvium merchandise along with a tasting package for 8 guests. We've seen these packages sell for $250-$750 at charitable auctions in the past. Note that we do not usually donate wine bottles/cases or ask our staff to assist at charitable events.

If your organization doesn't meet our criteria or if we're unable to meet your donation request, that doesn't mean we're not a fan of you or your cause. There are so many great organizations out there and we're always rooting for them.
